Used above advice and it worked brilliantly for me. I was about to call De Wets who installed it years back. Main thing Iearnt is that alway rather close your stopcock first before switching off the pump. My water pressure is very low, I do not have a stopcock from my wellpoint to my pump but a non-return valve on the pump. When I prime it as explained the water from the municipal tap just pours out of the hose from the pump to the garden. What to do to get the water pressure up again?

These wells don't usually yield as much water as more modern driven wells, but they are useful for emergency water or for livestock and crops.
If your soil is high in clay or contains many large rocks, a sand point well may not be the best choice for your home. However, if you're seeking an inexpensive well installation option and your area's water table is within about 30 feet of the surface, a sand point well might be a good choice for you.
Though wells have been drilled far into the earth, sometimes as far as feet, those depths are hardly feasible for a casual do-it-yourself project. A sand point is a perforated pipe that drives through the earth and provides a channel for water to be pumped to the surface.
Installation of a sand point well first requires the driving of this piece down to the level of the water table. Note that the water table will fluctuate throughout the course of the year depending on the weather and precipitation.

To drive it I cut a 6 inch whole in the driveway and put a smaller diameter pipe one foot longer than the well point in it to pound on with a twelve pond hammer and filled the point with enough sand to prevent the other pipe from wedging into it.
I then covered the hole with a nice looking grate. The ground under my driveway is gravel about four feet deep. This well point is much better than what's at Ace. It's built like a tank. You won't be dissatisfied with this unit. I'll be the only kid in town with water during the Armageddon, tee hee. This is top quality above and beyond what I ever expected.
